ABOUT
After a three-year intermission due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Harriman Cup returned to Bethpage, NY in the fall of 2023 to wild success! This year, join us for an even more important milestone: our 40th anniversary! The 40th Annual Harriman Cup Polo Match between alumni from Yale University and the University of Virginia will take place on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Bethpage Polo at the Park. Alumni from ALL schools are invited and encouraged to attend.
For four decades, The Harriman Cup has commemorated the life of diplomat, polo player, and former New York Governor Averell Harriman. Established in 1984, The Harriman Cup is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the sport of polo and supporting the collegiate polo programs at UVa and Yale, and we are proud to host the oldest alumni polo match in America. The organization has raised over $1 million for the schools’ undergraduate polo teams. For more information about our events throughout the year, and to keep up with the latest Harriman Cup news, please visit our Instagram and Facebook pages.
This year, we're honoring the founders of the Harriman Cup with the 2024 Harriman Cup Award. Our founders are Tom Shuman, Zene Colt, Dick Cawley, Mike McGhee, Mike Schram, Molly Baldrige, Bill Ylvisaker, Lou Lopez, Steve Orthwein, Sandy Carden, and John Harris.
